Neither - using refit as my boot manager and everything else was just a matter of resizing/creating partitions manually using OSX and gparted under Linux. I only used bootcamp for the drivers. I derived my installation from the following two links:

http://wiki.onmac.net/index.php/Triple_Boot_via_BootCamp
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MacBookPro

My triple boot is all native, no virtual software loaded at all :)
