What excited me as well was the range and depth of what people were doing. It was just truly exciting (speaking as the Canadian tech cheerleader). I didn't get to shoot video, but you can bet I'll be coming to find people soon!

@Gels -- what you're doing at UVic is great and not just for academia. Lots of businesses will want an in-house solution for this. Think giant law firms who work on big cases.

@Dylan ... I had no idea you guys were in Victoria! This is an awesome success story!

It was exciting to be a part of DemoCamp Victoria! When we have the next one I can do another presentation on some new ideas I have for SkyscraperPage. A big thanks to everyone who helped put this on!

Yup, that was great. Even though I didn't go to the pub with you guys afterward (there was one younger kid home alone, and the older one in tow needed to get home), I was buzzed from all the energy ...to the point of waking up after 3 hours of sleep (at 3am) and not getting back into dreamland properly! Oh hey-ho, eh?, but as they say, "you can sleep when you're dead"! :-)

Kudos to Dave Chard for agreeing to host -- and talking Wendy and Jessica into it, too! "Swank" is the right word (and Johnson Street can use it, too!). I guess we really do do things a bit differently here, eh?

@Tris - same here, thanks for documenting visually and live blogging the event.

@Gels - being inspired to come up and speak off the cuff is the greatest compliment to DemoCamp. Cheers to that! BTW, edited my post.. thanks for clarifying!

Hi Mark, thanks so much for holding such a spectacular event! Speaking on the spot was definitely a good exercise for the upcoming demos I'm probably going to be dealing with :P And thanks to everyone who provided some really great feedback on our project! I noticed it was only mentioned as Academic Research, (understandable, I think I listed enough acronyms to induce a coma) so to recap we're building what's called a Professional Reading Environment, which will facilitate Academic Research online - we have a blog running on our discovery process if anyone is interested (http://etcl.uvic.ca/whats-new/) and thanks again for the shameless plug op. ;)

Mark it was great to finally meet you in person. DemoCampVictoria01 was a huge success IMHO. Even my non-geek girlfriend had fun and would come to another (not all, but another).

Good choice of picture too. I like that one a lot.
